Authentication and single sign-on

What free means here

No plan, no tier, no ceiling

There is no paid version to graduate to, no user count that turns into an invoice, and no feature held back to create one. The terms say so as well as this page does.

And if something ever costs money

It will not be on this page. A service with a paid tier gets its own site and its own terms, and you will know which one you are looking at before you register. It still appears in the same console, because that is where your keys belong regardless of price.

Because we built it for ourselves

These services exist because our own client work needed them. Running them for a second customer costs us close to nothing, so charging for that would be a decision rather than a necessity.

And you can still leave

The export includes your users' password hashes in their original form, so moving to another provider does not force anybody to reset a password. Free is worth less if leaving is expensive.
